Sign Language Services of Michigan was founded in 1996.  We currently have more than 50 State and Nationally Certified Interpreters working with us.  While our primary service is providing Sign Language Interpreters, we provide many services such as A.D.A. Compliance Training, Skill Testing, Deaf/Blind and Oral Interpreters, Advocacy and Consultation services.  More information about all our services is available on the Frequently Asked Questions page.

A Sign Language Interpreter is a person who bridges the communication gap between Deaf and Hearing individuals.  Interpreters have a Code of Ethics that must be adhered to.  This Code of Ethics grants complete confidentiality to all parties involved in the communication.  It is important to know that not every person who can sign is an Interpreter.  Interpreters have training in facilitating communication.  Breaking down the cultural and linguistical barriers of the current communication and facilitating that action takes knowledge and experience.

Sign Language Services of Michigan (SLS) is dedicated to providing professional and effective services.  All employees of SLS know Sign Language and are well versed in knowledge of Deaf Culture and Interpreting practices.  All our Team Members are passionate about Interpreting and Sign Language.  Continuing education is a requirement not only by our Code of Ethics, but by our company policy.  Our Interpreters have the most up to date information available about changes in American Sign Language (ASL) and Interpreting practices. 

Our Customer Service is unparrelled in the industry.  We are happy to answer questions and are very knowledgeable in our field.  If we don't have the answer, we will help you find it.
